I wouldn’t do a party if It was me. I would grab my daughter and about 3 or 4 of her friends and take them all down to the nail salon and get peds and mans.

She would just love it!

Just have some friends over to watch a move, have fun, and get silly. That way it doesnt get boring. Also, rent a real good movie so that everyone is focused on that. Good luck, have fun, be safe, and Happy Birthday!!!!

Q&A: what would you suggest for a first date?

Question by Amanda: what would you suggest for a first date?
so i have a date for prom, myles. weve talked on facebook a lot (three months and eight days..) and today, i actually called him and we were talking for a bit.
we havent ever talked like in person. the phones the closest weve gotten. but anyway, i called him today, and we were talking for a few minutes (then his phone wasnt working..)
and a little before that, we had been talking on facebook, and i had told him that my best friend (becky) and her prom date (richie, who goes to another school) had an idea that the four of us get together before prom (which is in 26 days) to hang out and get to know each other better (though becky says its mainly for myles and i)
so i told myles, and he said that it sounds good. and actually, after id called him, he went on facebook and he asked what my number is, and he said ‘by the way you have a beautiful voice’
and omg that made my day even more! (ive NEVER gotten a compliment on my voice.. ive always hated it, but now, i kinda like it)
anyway. what should we do for that double date? i have no idea. becky suggested mini golf, bowling, or laser tag. richie had said it was up to becky and i as to what we do, and becky said its up to me.
im going to ask myles tomorrow what his preference is, but do you have any other suggestions?
thanks!

Go to the movies. Pick a spot in the back where the light doesnt shine on you. Very back row. Put up the cup holder when you guys sit down RIGHT AWAY. He will probably do it first but incase hes shy. Wait for him to put his arm around you and put you head on his chest and hold his hand. In a random action seen look into his eyes and let him kiss you (if hes not too shy to go for it).

Then chug soda until you are sure your going to float away.

where to go for college spring break in florida? (for clean fun)?

Question by chasz25tsax: where to go for college spring break in florida? (for clean fun)?
Me and a few of my friends want to go someplace warm for spring break this year, and we’re trying to do it for under 600 for the flight and hotel (minus expenses). none of us are really into the typical spring break action of drinking and excessive partying. we definitely want to be on the beach, with some clean fun during the day and night (e.g. mini golf, go karts, laser tag or something). what would be the best place to go in florida for this? we’ve been looking at daytona beach, but it seems that there isn’t a whole lot there anymore – is this true? we mainly want to sit on the beach most of the days and something fun to do at night. overall, we’re looking for something that’s not completely boring and dull, but something semi-relaxing. and places like panama city with MTV are out of the question. any advice guys? thanks!

Help with another relativity question?

Question by Case X: Help with another relativity question?
A mechanism on Earth used to shoot down geosynchronous satellites that house laser-based weapons is finally perfected and propels golf balls at 0.94c.
(a) How far will a detector placed inside the golf ball initially measure the distance to the satellite?
(b) How much time will it take the golf ball to make the journey to the satellite in the Earth’s frame?
How much time will it take in the golf ball’s frame?

Could someone walk me through this problem please? Any help would be appreciated, really!

Answer by OzoneGuy
Find out the distance to geosynchronous orbit.
(a) 1/gamma to get that length, to get the contracted length.
(b) Just divide the altitude (in meters) by the speed in meters per second, to get the Earth frame duration-to-target in seconds. Apply 1/gamma to that, to get the duration in projectile frame.

42,164,000 m is the distance Earth-center to geosynchronous orbit. (Wikipedia)
6,356,800 m is the distance Earth-center to the surface at the equator. (NASA)
I’d assume your launcher was on the equator, and fired when the target was directly overhead (neglecting Coriolis effect), and subtract the two for the distance.

Since your speed is only given to two sig figs, you should only report answers to 2 sig figs.
